For Continental OnePass members seeking First Class and Business Class award seats at current rates, time is running out. New higher rates apply for bookings on or after Feb.1.

For travel within or between the 48 contiguous US, Alaska, and Canada, First Class SaverPass (standard) awards will cost 50,000 miles, an increase of 5,000; EasyPass (anytime) rewards will cost 100,000 miles, an increase of 10,000 miles.

Continental's Business Class awards to many international destinations will be facing even steeper increases. Routes from the US to Asia, India, Africa, and the Middle East will jump 20% to 300,000 miles (from 250,000), and routes to Southern South America leap 39% to 250,000 miles (from 180,000).

With these increased international rates, Continental's Business Class seat awards cost the same as anytime First Class on American and United. That's no contest ... Continental falls far short even before you consider their additional restrictions and conditions.

I advise you to burn off as many OnePass miles as possible before Feb 1, and perhaps seek greener pastures if you rely on these specific awards.
