Get a Discount First Class Airfare to Hawaii With the Hula Loophole
On a per-mile basis, discount First Class airfares to Hawaii can be as low as any fares worldwide. And one of my favorite pricing anomalies can sometimes net a ticket to Hawaii for free.
How? Disproportionately low discount First Class airfares from the East Coast, for example, include Baltimore/Washington-Honolulu at just $1,293. If that sounds expensive, consider that Baltimore/Washington to London is almost half the distance to Hawaii, but can cost two to four times more.

Many other cheap tickets to Hawaii are available in the $1,400 to $1,800 range.
The little-known secret
If youre flying First Class from the East to the West Coast, you can sometimes tack on Hawaii for free.
Heres one example: The published Baltimore/Washington-Los Angeles fare is $1,458 round-trip on American First Class, but the lowest First Class fare to Honolulu is $1,293. Thats $165 less for twice the distance.
Plus the fare allows a stop in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or San Jose, for a delightful low fee of $55.81.
In other words, American Airlines pays you $110.29 to make a side-trip to Hawaii. Hows that for a discount First Class airfare to Hawaii?
