For up to two travelers (and possibly more), FCF’s research team has discovered an opportunity to save up to 46% in cash OR save up to 70% in miles compared to normal / everyday prices when traveling between several U.S. cities and Europe.

Sample Savings via Starwood’s (now Marriott Points) points-to-miles transfer partnership with Japan Airlines: Philadelphia to Amsterdam for 80,000 Japan Airlines miles and it costs even less if you have a Starwood/Marriott account: only 65,000 Starpoints (now 195,000 Marriott Points). American charges 60,000 miles for economy class.

In other words, if you have a Starwood/Marriott card and book via Japan Airlines, as opposed to earning miles via mainstream ways, you’re getting a low cost upgrade to Business Class.

More here on getting free or low-cost add-on flights (based on availability) from around the U.S. to the hub (Philadelphia) AND / OR free or low-cost flights from the destination (Amsterdam, London, or Zurich) to all over Europe.
