British Airways, Virgin Extend Fares

February 2007
Read Offline

Remember those great Business Class fares we discussed on page six last month? They’ve now been extended, for ticketing through Feb. 15. Here’s the deal in case you missed it: $2,122 round-trip from the East Coast, $2,735 from the West Coast, for travel July 1 though Sept. 2007. Both carriers offer horizontally flat seats. And while both are a good value at these rates, Virgin’s Business Class is much better, for a number of reasons including seat length, at 6 feet 6 inches—it is 6 inches longer than BA’s. Virgin’s seat is also much wider, especially across the shoulders. If you’re looking to splurge, however, consider BA’s upgradeable fare to First Class— an even better way to fly. Details on how to do that quickly and relatively inexpensively in last month’s issue.

Eos Fare Uncovered

This might be in response to BA’s and Virgin’s fares, but there are some differences. Here’s the deal: a new promotional fare of $2,228 (S class) that is not posted on the Eos website. (The lowest round-trip fare on Eos New York-London is usually $3,150, and requires a 42-day advance purchase.) You get the deal by calling Eos reservations at (800) 458-1277. Fifty-day advance purchase; no seasonal restrictions; Sunday-night stay required; and 90-day maximum stay. Purchase deadline: March 1.
