Last year US Airways ignited an off-season fare war to these destinations, with First Class fares starting at $499 round-trip. (Only a couple years ago these fares cost $2,000 or more.) Now US Airways has stoked the fire by extending the deal for travel through—and this is the amazing part—Dec. 31, 2005, the most popular time of year!

In many markets, American, Continental, Delta, and United are matching the fares. Destinations include Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cancun, Cozumel, Grand Bahama Island, Grenada, Grand Cayman, La Romana, Mexico City, Montego Bay, Nassau, Providenciales, Punta Cana, San Jose, San Juan, Santo Domingo, St. Croix, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas.

In most cases, buying the ticket can be a much better value than burning miles or gambling on an elite upgrade.
