Hawaiian Airlines is expanding its routes to Asia from Hawaii. Until now it only offered flights to Manila from Honolulu, but as of Nov. 17, it began service to Tokyo and on Jan. 12 will start flying to Seoul. This is great news for the budget-minded premium traveler, because Hawaiian Airlines Business Class fares can be up to 46% lower than those of airlines that fly from the west coast. Here’s a select comparison:
- Roundtrip to Manila from Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and five other major west coast cities: $1,730 (plus taxes, nine-day advance-purchase) versus $3,188 on Delta for a 14-day advance-purchase.
- SFO to Seoul: $2,635 (no advance) compared to $3,428 on United (no advance).
- Seattle to Tokyo: $3,878 (14-day advance-purchase) compared to $5,221 on Air Canada 7-day advance.
