Lufthansa’s new lie-flat Business Class seats have finally arrived. They are on all of the carrier’s new B747-800s and one of its A330-300s, both of which are used on U.S.-Europe routes. (Lufthansa’s entire fleet is slated to have the new seats by end of 2016.)

Lufthansa currently operates two flights on this route, and while the fares are the same, only flight LH419, a B747-800, has the lie-flat seat. (On the return, the flight is numbered LH418.) Flight LH417, an A330-300, is equipped with seats that only recline 171 degrees. (On the return, this is flight LH416.)

Also keep Washington, DC in mind if you’re flying Lufthansa and have to make a connection. In First Class on the B747-800, Lufthansa is offering the same seat it does on its A380s, a lie-flat bed that is 2.6 feet wide and 6.8 feet long. The cabin is on the main deck in the nose of the aircraft, the quietest section.

Flights LH415 outbound and LH414 return offer the new Business Class seat (48 in all). In First Class, Lufthansa offers the same seat as it does on A380s and B747-800s.
Getting the New Business Class Seat For Less
Take advantage of current summer Business Class fare promotions, which start as low as $1,700 plus taxes, or wait until late August when holiday Business Class fares come out. In 2011, Lufthansa’s Thanksgiving Business Class fares started at $1,100 (plus taxes).
