AARP membership can net you $400 off British Airways First and Business Class flights. While the program has been around for as long as I can remember, I don’t usually have FCF take up your precious time with such a modest level of savings. But I’ve made an exception in light of the fact that BA is offering more and more significantly reduced EasyUp fares these days and in the $2,000-neighborhood, so this tactic can bring the Business Class fare down close to coach—what FCF very often is about.
Not 50 years old? No Problem.
In the same way, I am an “Associate Member” of the American Bar Association (and I’m not a lawyer) and can take advantage of certain travel discounts available to ABA members, anyone can join AARP ($16 annual membership).

For example, combine the current First Class holiday fare and the $400 AARP discount and you can net a First Class New York-Dusseldorf ticket for $2,903.
The AARP discount also applies to EasyUp fares; recently we have seen British Airways and other oneworld airlines offering them more frequently and for longer periods of time (see FCF alert on Nov. 6).
The deal also works on BA code-share flights; including American and Iberia to Europe.
