Air Canada Announces “Club Class”

This new Air Canada class is basically premium economy, and starting in May it will be offered on Toronto-Rome, Toronto-Lima, Vancouver-London, and Vancouver-Osaka flights (B767 service). The benefits include: Executive Class (Air Canada’s Business Class) check-in and baggage allowance; Maple Leaf Lounge access; 39- to 44-inch seat-pitch (seven to 10 inches more than economy); 2-2-2 seat configuration; and 125% Aeroplan Status Miles.

First, Business, and Premium Laurel Class passengers can now order meals online, starting 14 days in advance and up to 24 hours before departure at www.evaair.com. Until Sept. 31, 2005, Evergreen Club members receive 500 bonus miles per flight sector for doing so. This service is not available in Saigon, Hanoi, Phnom Penh, Paris, Auckland, and Japan.

Le Méridien Upgrade Deal

British Airways Diners Club Bonus

Until Aug. 31, 2005, conversions into BA Miles earn a 50% bonus. So 67,500 points net 101,250 miles, which is enough to fly Business Class from the US to London. To convert, call (800) 234-4034.

United RJs Get First Class

United’s new planes (Embraer 170 and CRJ-700) have leather upholstery, no middle seat, and overhead bins (Embraer 170 only) to accommodate roll-on bags. These features are available on select United Express flights from Washington Dulles and Chicago O’Hare to Buffalo, Des Moines, Indianapolis, Hartford, Houston, New Orleans, Norfolk, and Rochester.

EL AL Goes Wireless

Starting in June the carrier will offer wireless services on B747-400 and B777 flights to and from Israel. Those flights should all be wired by Dec. 2006. Costs range from $9.95 to $29.95.

Lufthansa From D.C.

The carrier has started daily non-stops to Munich on A340-300s fitted with its new Business Class seat. It offers the longest, lie-flat bed (6.6 ft.) in use and in-flight wireless Internet service. Reservations: (800) 645-3880.
