Cathay Pacific is Mexicana’s new mileage redemption partner. Why is this a big deal? As we reported back in October 2006, you can buy Mexicana miles cheaply, which means you can get access to Cathay Pacific seats both quickly and for much less than normal fares. In other words, even while Mexicana raised the price (from 1.6¢ to 2.2¢ per mile) just days after I informed you about the strategy, it is still the lowest priced mileage currency in the market.
