American Increases Gift Limit

AirTran Rewards Program Changes

Complimentary upgrades will be available to A+ elite members at the gate 40 minutes prior to departure, based on availability. A+ elite members on stand-by for an earlier or later flight will have priority. To retain elite status, members must fly at least 12 one-way, A+ credit-earning flights during the subsequent 365 days. Current elite members will have until Jan. 31, 2009, or one year from the date of Elite status attainment (whichever is longer) to renew. A+ elites are now eligible for free in-flight cocktails, exemption from redemption fees, and exemption from change fees when traveling on AirTran partner Frontier Airlines.

United's Checked Bag Fee Increases

For travel on or after Nov. 10, United’s fee for a second checked bag will increase to $50. Exempt are First and Business Class passengers, United and Star Alliance elites, and active military personnel.
