Six airlines offer a true Premium Economy product and service to Europe. The first two were covered in our May issue: British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. Here’s a rundown of the other four European carriers that offer Premium Economy.
The Airlines and Destinations: Air France (SkyTeam): From New York to Paris, starting service on October 25. Air New Zealand (Star Alliance): From Los Angeles to London. OpenSkies (British Airways’ partner): From New York to Paris. Scandinavian Airlines (Star Alliance): From New York to Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Premium Economy Summer Fares and Booking Codes: Air New Zealand’s lowest fare to London is $1,687 (code O). OpenSkies’ lowest fare to Paris is $1,100 (code L). Scandinavian Airlines’ lowest fare to both Copenhagen and Stockholm is $1,114 (code B), and has a ticketing date of August 17.
Premium Economy Seat and Aircraft: Air France uses a B777 and offers a 123-degree recline, an 18.9-inch seat width, and a 38.2-inch seat pitch. Air New Zealand’s B747s offer an 18.5-inch seat width, and a 38- to 41-inch seat pitch. OpenSkies uses a B757 which offers a 140-degree recline and a 52-inch seat pitch. Scandinavian Airlines’ A330 offers a 130-degree recline, a 18.3-inch seat width, and a 38-inch seat pitch.
