Package savings lands two free Business Class tickets while staying at the Fairmont, Maui
Fares to Hawaii right now are average from the West Coast but if you are flying non-stop from Chicago, Dallas, Houston, or New York fares are through the roof. We’re talking in the $2,800 to $4,800 range. Which might make it worthwhile to consider a positioning flight to catch one of these deals.
Right now is a great time to consider a flight+hotel deal to Hawaii. Sandy beaches, cool drinks, turquoise waters, dramatic volcanoes. What’s not to love? Especially when you can get there with a crazy-great Business Class deal. That’s how you start the vacation before you even arrive.
Let’s wade into the warm waters of this opportunity.

In many instances, package deals “ying” while the market “yangs.” That’s because they’re negotiated well ahead of time. As you can imagine, that may or may not work in your favor. Right now, it does.
FCF’s team always takes a keen interest in Hawaii (we’re only human) and has found great package deals traveling on American, Delta, and United. We found the best deals recently with Business Class flights using Orbitz. When we priced the same package using United Vacations, it was almost the same cost but the flights were in coach.
Just take a look at the San Francisco-Maui deal on United Airlines for two people. The $3,015 savings when booking a flight-hotel package (vs. booking flights and accommodations separately for this same trip) is MORE than the cost of two Business Class tickets at $3,002. That’s two Business Class tickets to Maui for free.

A package that saves you $3,015
Now, let’s take a look at five-night vacation packages to Hawaii where you’ll be enjoying palm tree-swaying luxury and volcanic value. For example, hula your way in Business Class from San Francisco to Maui and stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani. If you were to separate airfare and accommodation for two travelers, you’d pay a total of $10,533 for five nights. However, if you combine the flight and hotel into a package deal, you’d only pay $7,518, for a savings of $3,015, or 29%. The chart below details a range of packages to Maui and Kona from a range of U.S. cities on the big three carriers. And all with multi-thousands of dollars in savings.

Take note: Just because it’s a package deal, it’s not foolproof. We’ve looked carefully for value with these examples, and it takes some research to compare prices on flights and at hotels, such as Hilton vs. Fairmont. You’ll need to do that too if you’d like to consider this strategy. But I say it’s a small price to pay to get two free Business Class tickets to an island paradise.
Aloha, and I'll see you up front.
