Continental
The airline just launched round trip fares starting at $1,488 a couple hundred dollars less than usual. Most departures are valid July 1, through Sept. 4, and require a 60-day advance purchase and Saturday-night stay.Look for fare-basis code Z.
Caveat: Many of the destinations with the lowest fares are not operated with Continental’s 170 degree reclining seats. So you might think twice about the deal. See FCF Feb. 2006 and this link for more: http://www.continental.com/travel/inflight/businessfirst/default.asp
American Matches
Not that American’s seats are better than Continental’s, but it is matching many of the airline’s fares.
No Advance Purchase Fare
Just discovered are the lowest no advance fares I’ve seen in a long time: Detroit-London by Lufthansa and United at $1,854. Fares are also available from Detroit to Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester. These fares are booked in Z class and are non-refundable.
Thorough analysis of best summer values to Europe coming next month.
