Back in February, the airline put miles on sale, dropping the price from 3.5 to 2.5 cents, for purchase though March. Now the carrier has simply let the sale price stand, presenting a good opportunity to buy miles. US Airways is one of only a few carriers with no annual mileage-purchase cap, just a 50,000-mile limit per purchase. This deal opens up an avenue to Business and First Class travel on Star Alliance members at enormous savings, even on short notice.
Best flights for purchased miles: South Pacific (promo fares are scarce); First class on alliance airlines (ditto); to South America and Europe when Business Class fares are high.
