
Surging passenger demand has led Virgin Atlantic to outfit its London/Heathrow Airbus fleet with new Premium Economy seats, and to expand existing Premium Economy cabins on B747s. Bookings in Premium Economy, created by Virgin Atlantic in 1992, increased 56% from 2000 to 2005, and 20% in the last 10 months. The B747 aircraft will have 62 Premium Economy seats (compared with 32 currently), which have 38 inches of pitch, are 21 inches wide, and offer laptop power outlets.
