To Mexico, Belize, and Costa Rica
That’s my advice if you want to get the most for your money. The dollar is strong in all three countries, so you’ll find great values on the ground and in the air—and it’s a lot less hassle getting there. Consider the advantages.
World-class luxury for less
At the Four Seasons Hotel in London, a Superior Room (a notch above Standard) for seven nights is $4,000+ for two. Stay at the Four Seasons in Costa Rica and you can book the much more desirable Canopy Suite at the same rate. Continental breakfast at the FS in London will set you back US $44, the same price as a beef tenderloin dinner at the Costa Rica location.
Published fares do not require much advance notice ...
... so there’s still plenty of time to travel in a premium cabin this summer. Business Class to Belize City and San Jose, CR, require only a 14-day advance purchase with most major airlines. United offers great 30-day advance fares to Mexico; US Airways’ First Class 14-day advance fares come close.
Fares are low, so pay cash and save your miles
Business Class from many US cities, including Chicago, New York, and San Francisco, runs $489 to San Jose, CR, and $539 to Belize City. Fares to Mexico City start as low as $651 from Houston. Even US Airways’ First Class fares to Mexico’s prime destinations are good values, so buy your tickets and build up your mileage bank.
Bonus-miles bonanza
