At FCF we love big international events—whether it’s sports, entertainment or cultural celebrations. And, of course, we insist on premium travel. What could be better than putting them together? We will now publish Bucket List Travel Alerts in our Daily Alerts section. Events like the Bordeaux Wine Festival, British Open, Le Mans, Melbourne Cup, and the Annual Wildlife Migration in Africa are next up.
Wimbledon on a Whim.
July is almost here, so this is ideal for retirees with a “bags-packed” travel mentality and flexibility (something we wrote about last month right here) to take advantage of airlines’ seat dumping with close-in availability. FCF has released the hounds to sniff up opportunities for the grass court classic. For example, how about free First Class British Airways mileage award seats from Chicago to London? That’s tastier than strawberries and cream.

As we speak, there are more than 350 tournament tickets available on StubHub for a range of matches, including the finals. London’s hotel accommodations are good, too, and there are more than 500 First and Business Class seats available using your miles.
In July, you could be mowing your lawn at home… or watching Djokovich on the lawn at Wimbledon. It’s your serve.

Meet FCF’s New “Sweet Redeems Event Picker”
While a full calendar of First and Business Class award opportunities can be found in FCF’s full report, Wimbledon on a Whim: How to Ace First Class Flights to the Grand Slam with Your Miles, Points, and/or Money—Now, see our new, interactive widget below where 500+ different Sweet Redeems (what FCF calls easy-to-get mileage award flights) can be had.

Up for a great, spontaneous trip to Wimbledon? Keep in mind that the dates won’t last long after published, and availability may change)—for the better (airlines often release more seats as the departure date draws near) or for the worse (your fellow travelers jump on these).
Vale Bud Collins
One last thing, with Wimbledon here FCF would like to reflect on the passing in March of Hall of Fame tennis sportscaster Bud Collins. Mr. Collins was a personal client of FCF’s, and as he put it, “I long to turn left” when entering an airplane. Bud was one-of-a-kind, a brilliant sportscaster and a wonderful person. He is greatly missed.
