American Matches Delta and United’s Already-Deeply-Discounted First Class Fares to Hawaii

Now upgrade for as little as $23 per flight hour

For the last few years Delta has been offering some of the lowest First Class fares to Hawaii—$1,100 to $1,300 round-trip—from many West Coast cities, including Los Angeles and San Francisco. United matched Delta’s fare last May. (At that time, American’s First Class fare was around $3,335.) The only airlines that came close to Delta and United’s fares were Alaska and Hawaiian.

American’s New First Class Deal

Without any fanfare, American has matched Delta’s and United’s First Class fares, but only from Los Angeles: It’s charging $1,200 round-trip to Honolulu, Maui, Kauai, and Kona. Delta and United still charge about $100 less from SFO to these destinations. Depending upon the travel date, the fare difference from Los Angeles ranges from $100 to $300.
