Ongoing Transcon Fare Evolution: First Class Upgrade on American Starting at Only $2 Round-Trip

Business Class fares have been steady on the Los Angeles/San Francisco-JFK route starting at $1,197 with a 30-day advance purchase.

Then on Aug. 19 FCF alert, AA came out with a special promotion for First Class, an upgrade from Business Class for only $2 more round-trip on the LAX-JFK route (down 58% / $1,620). How long will this fare be valid? That is anyone’s guess. Probably not a new fare trend, rather AA trying to fill seats for cash.
